Movie Review : Prince

Director Kookie Gulati couldn’t have found any kookier movie to debut with. Taurani and Taurani’s attempt to serve another thriller filled with unpredictable twists and turns after Race is not as successful but it definitely keeps the adrenaline up. Vivek Oberoi, cast as a high-tech robber in the flick, has definitely made his pappa Oberoi proud with his implausible stunts. You can find him riding bike adroitly over everywhere except on roads. Oh yes, but when on road (as in the Atif Aslam’s Tere Liye song) he thoroughly follows: Save Rubber Ride on Single Tyre. Before intermission you will also find him being wooed by three hotties, turn by turn. British Indian lassie, Aruna Shields has a ravishing on-screen presence. And yes by the way, I forgot to mention, the movie has got a storyline too. Our stuntman is a super-smart robber who suddenly wakes up in Who-am-I-state i.e. with all memories lost. It appears to be because of some enchanted coin which is in huge demand by Sherry, Sarang, many Maya’s and societies like NIA and IGRIP (Go watch the movie for knowing these abbreviations if you don’t find any other reason to watch it ;) ). Our poor Mr. Prince, all befuddled about his real lady-love, struggles to find his memories and the god darn coin which messed it all. The chase scenes captured by Vishnu Rao, the director of photography are commendable and so is the work of action director Allan Amin. The movie throughout reminded of so many Hollywood flicks, like Paycheck where Ben Affleck finds his memory lost amidst fast paced action sequences; and Crank where Jason Stathom has to keep adrenaline at upper level to stay alive. You might be able to associate Ghajni and Amir’s Short term memory loss too with the dramatic chain of events. However, these are just momentary resemblances as all of them have a common ‘thrill’ factor associated with them up to certain degrees. By the way, the end has been kept quite open for a sequel. Remember Victoria of Twilight series?? They too have a vamp. Wanna wait for a sequel, anyone??
